In our class we saw and talked about this photo an I loved it I thought that it simply beautiful mostly I think what caught my I was the statue its beauty alone says a thousand words. The human body is art we can make our self be art. Because we can shape and form our body into what we want it to be. Others may not agree but im sure that some one out there agrees with me. Because look we are now still learning and looking at beautiful art work created thousands of years ago. This sculpture is so defined and details one could only think about all the other beautiful things out there just waiting to be seen. Monday, June 29, 2009

Wonderful! Awesome! Inspiring!
ReplyDeleteTwo things I picked-up, from your 1st blog entry:
1. BEAUTY (and there's a wealth of art that either defines or is concerned with elements of beauty); and
2. the HUMAN BODY - again, there's a ton of art, Hell, a whole genre devoted to the human body...
BEAUTY: there's a really neat book, written by Umberto Eco, called: 'The History of Beauty'. Your local library should have this. Possibly - should you choose to go in this direction - order this from your local library. If they don't have it, MAKE THEM buy it!
The HUMAN BODY: art, throughout history up to the 21st Century, has been attempting to come to grips with rendering and understanding the human form... As a start, I'd suggest you continue to look at the Renaissance and Roman sculptures/paintings concerned with the human body. Try Googling using various word arrangements (i.e. 'The Human Body in the history of art', 'art and the human body', 'Renaissance sculptures', 'Roman Sculpture', GREEK SCULPTURE, etc...
Hope this helps!?
This could be one great and inspiring Blog, that is, if you keep up on your research...
Let me know if I can help further.
